Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin. In 1763 the Prussian king Frederick the Great gave the company its name and sceptre symbol after he bought it from merchant Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky. Painters and sculptors were attracted from other factories like Meissen. Under the direct influence of king Frederick the Great himself the factory very succesfully produced some of the finest German Rococo porcelain.
After his death the factory kept on attracting the best artists around and produced fine porcelain in empire and biedermeier styles. The factory was destroyed in 1943 but the designs and molds survived as they were precautionary moved to safe havens. Today the factory still has an art department that manufactures beautiful sculptures, dishes and vases.
